Thank you for visiting the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care’s website.

Following the publication of the independent review in May 2022, the Government has published its strategy and consultation on children’s social care, Stable Homes, Built on Love. The strategy and consultation was published on 2nd February 2023.  It responds to the recommendations made by the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care and also to the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel report into the tragic murders of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and Star Hobson; and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) Review into children’s social care placements.

This website will be closed down by 10th March 2023. An archived version will be saved with the National Archives and will be available in due course.

Event for children’s social care experienced adults (21 April)

21 April, 2021, 1:00pm

To accompany the launch of our plans we have developed a series of online events, taking place in April 2021, which will allow you to share your initial views about the issues affecting children, adults and families with lived experience of children’s social care. We will structure these events around the review’s ‘big question’:

How do we ensure children grow up in loving, stable and safe families and, where that is not possible, care provides the same foundations?

Each of our initial review-led online events are specifically targeted towards four very broad groups of participants:

  1. Children who have lived experience of children’s social care (including those in care or with a child protection plan)
  2. Care experienced adults
  3. Care experienced young people aged 16-25
  4. Parents and Families with lived experience of children’s social care
  5. Foster carers
  6. Adoptive parents
  7. Kinship carers

This event invites those of you who are care experienced adults to join us and share your views. More details about this event will be shared with you closer to the date, including our package of support which you may want to access in advance, during or after your conversation with us.

To ensure all participants have the opportunity to contribute, we have limited the numbers of free tickets available to each of these events to 50. If you are unable to secure a place at one of these initial events we would encourage you to sign up for updates about the review here and not to worry – as there will be lots more opportunities made available during the next few weeks and months.

To secure your place – please sign up for a free ticket using the Eventbrite link on this page.
